Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated in his speech on March 17 that Israel leads a network that considers itself superior to others and is gradually dragging the entire region into catastrophe, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

He noted: “We are all aware that the attacks, starting from Gaza, then affecting Yemen and Lebanon, and most recently — Iran, are driven by more than just security considerations.” This statement was made during an iftar with media representatives at the presidential complex in Ankara.

Speaking about the role of the media in modern society, Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey, as a country with significant influence, should have journalists, newspapers, and television channels that are in demand across wide territories.

“Today, we have a more free, pluralistic, and diverse media environment in all aspects,” the president added.

He expressed prayers for the mercy of the Almighty for all respected journalists who made significant contributions to the development of the press but are unfortunately no longer with us. In particular, he remembered Murat Keklikçi, a senior correspondent and photo editor for the Sabah newspaper, who passed away this morning, as well as all journalists who brought values to journalism through their work. Erdoğan respectfully noted the 275 heroic journalists who gave their lives trying to convey information about the genocide that Israel is committing in Gaza. He thanked the guests for participating in the iftar and congratulated the Communications Directorate for successfully organizing the event, expressing hope that it would benefit the entire journalistic community.
