Kulubaev: The Visit of the Ghanaian Foreign Minister Opens a New Chapter in Bilateral Relations
Kyrgyzstan and Ghana are opening a new chapter in their bilateral relations. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, during a recent meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Minister emphasized that the first official visit of the Ghanaian Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, symbolizes a new stage in cooperation between the two countries, which will contribute to strengthening economic and diplomatic ties.
Kulubaev noted that in the context of growing international tension, the importance of establishing new friendly relations and deepening mutual understanding becomes particularly relevant.
Since 2021, Kyrgyzstan has been demonstrating positive economic results, developing under a model referred to as the "snow leopard leap." At the same time, Ghana is successfully implementing its economic recovery program. The parties also see opportunities for joint work in sectors such as agro-industry, textiles, livestock, education, information technology, and mining.
Additionally, a decision was made to launch a full-fledged diplomatic dialogue, and memorandums of understanding were signed.
"In the future, regular political consultations and meetings between the foreign ministries of both countries are planned. An agreement has also been signed to abolish visas for holders of diplomatic and service passports, which will simplify official contacts and strengthen practical cooperation. This decision will also enhance the prestige of our passports," the Minister added.
Kulubaev also noted that Kyrgyzstan and Ghana can cooperate on international platforms such as the UN and the African Union, in which Kyrgyzstan has observer status. In 2027, Ghana will chair this organization.
The Minister reminded that historically, cooperation between the countries began back in the Soviet Union era when Kyrgyz educational institutions trained students from Africa in fields such as aviation, engineering, and medicine. Currently, Ghanaian football players are participating in Kyrgyz leagues, which also contributes to the development of sports culture.
"Kyrgyzstan is becoming a reliable partner for Ghana, and Ghana is a friend of Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia, in the very heart of Eurasia. This visit will be an important step towards strengthening Kyrgyz-Ghanaian cooperation, better acquaintance with the culture and traditions of our peoples, and forming a new warm friendship between the continents," concluded the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
