Xiaomi Chief: In the Future, Due to AI, We Will Work 6 Hours a Week
The CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, shared his opinion on how artificial intelligence (AI) is capable of radically changing work schedules. In a recent interview with China News Weekly, he noted that in the future, technology may allow people to work just three days a week, for two hours a day, instead of the usual five days for eight hours.
Lei Jun emphasized that AI is already transforming the labor market, changing many professions. According to him, new automated tools will perform a significant portion of routine work, freeing up time for more creative tasks.
He also expressed the opinion that concerns about mass unemployment due to the implementation of AI are often exaggerated. In his view, technology can not only reduce working hours but also improve people's quality of life and enhance productivity.
“We may find ourselves in a situation where we work just three days a week for two hours,” he said, adding that such an approach could significantly improve living conditions.
Additionally, Lei Jun discussed Xiaomi's plans in the field of artificial intelligence. The company is actively working on new AI technologies that are expected to not only increase profits but also make the use of mobile devices more convenient for users.
Xiaomi also intends to expand the implementation of its processors and AI functions in the international market, which is expected to improve user interaction with the company's ecosystem.
Lei Jun is not the only one in the tech industry predicting a reduction in working hours due to AI. Similar opinions have been expressed by JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, as well as Nvidia's Jensen Huang and Zoom's Eric Yuan.
