Sadyr Japarov announced the cessation of pressure on the courts
At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Gulya Kozhokulova raised the issue of the need to reform the judicial system. She pointed out that high-profile corruption cases in recent years have demonstrated that interference in the work of the courts has become one of the reasons for the existing problems.
According to Kozhokulova, "courts often unjustifiably arrested citizens and hastily made decisions at the direction of certain curators." In this context, she suggested considering the elimination of the practice related to the curatorship of judges.
President Sadyr Japarov clarified who exactly was being referred to and received a response that judges themselves had mentioned the influence of employees of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS). The head of state noted that in the past there were cases when certain officials simultaneously performed the functions of a judge, prosecutor, and police.
“Such practices have now been stopped. I have firmly warned: if anyone repeats the mistakes of Manas and Almanbet, they will find themselves behind bars,” the president emphasized. He added that the SCNS, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), and the prosecutor's office should only engage in their direct responsibilities and not interfere in the affairs of citizens or criminal procedural actions.
Kozhokulova expressed hope for real reform of the judicial system, to which Japarov responded that work in this direction is ongoing, noting that he personally monitors cases of pressure on judges, calling violators to account and putting them in their place.
