


On March 7, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, participated in an informal meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council held in Istanbul.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, during the event, the heads of foreign policy agencies discussed current issues of both regional and global significance. In particular, emphasis was placed on the ongoing tensions in various parts of the world, including the Middle East, as well as on issues of international and regional security.
Kulubaev expressed serious concern regarding the escalation of conflicts in the Middle Eastern region and called for an immediate ceasefire. He emphasized the need for restraint from the parties and the resolution of conflicts exclusively through peaceful, diplomatic means, in accordance with the UN Charter and international law. The Minister also noted the importance of uniting the efforts of the global community to prevent further destabilization.
In his speech, he also addressed the situation in Afghanistan and along the border with Pakistan, confirming Kyrgyzstan's interest in creating a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, which is an important factor for ensuring security in the region.
Discussing the topic of sanctions, the ministers noted that unilateral restrictions negatively impact global trade and economic stability. Furthermore, Kyrgyzstan's position on the importance of adhering to the principles of international law and the inadmissibility of applying unilateral measures without the approval of the UN Security Council was emphasized.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the institutionalization of the CSTO+ format and the possibilities for expanding cooperation with international partners.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a joint statement was adopted regarding the situation in the Middle East.
