Shamshiev noted that the new trademark "Made in Kyrgyzstan" (Ak Ilbirs) should become a modern equivalent of the Soviet "quality mark." The main goal of this initiative is to combat the practice of "pseudo-export," where imported products, particularly from China, are passed off as Kyrgyz.
“This practice is now losing its relevance. In order to obtain the right to use the mark featuring the snow leopard, the producer must confirm high quality at all stages: from raw material procurement to finished product manufacturing. This includes mandatory laboratory confirmation of environmental cleanliness and compliance with standards,” he explained.
Shamshiev also mentioned that the transfer of management of the national brand to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry reflects the state policy of simplifying bureaucratic procedures.
The already approved functions include:
- Certification of realtors;
- Creation of a registry of honest entrepreneurs;
- Training and certification of appraisers.
According to Shamshiev, products under the "Ak Ilbirs" brand may have a higher price due to strict production requirements; however, this will ensure trust from consumers.
“When consumers see the snow leopard mark, whether abroad or in the domestic market, they will have a clear association with environmentally friendly products from high-altitude Kyrgyzstan. This is a matter of reputation and the authority of the nation,” he added.
In the first phase, the focus will be on the food and textile industries. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry reserves the right to revoke the mark from those producers who cannot meet the established quality standards.
