In Parliament, a proposal was made to develop a separate law on professional sports
At the meeting held on March 7, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliyev discussed current issues in sports development with representatives of the sports sector, including coaches and athletes.
According to the press service of the parliament, the participants of the meeting reviewed the current state of the sports industry and the need for improved legislative support.
The speaker noted that athletes had previously approached him with various issues in this area.
Mamataliyev emphasized that significant attention has been paid to the development of physical culture in recent years, mentioning the construction of new sports facilities with the support of President Sadyr Japarov. However, he pointed out that existing laws no longer meet modern requirements.
In this regard, the speaker expressed the need for comprehensive changes to the legislation.
"It is necessary to conduct joint discussions, exchange opinions, and assess the current problems, as no one knows them better than you," he stated.
According to Mamataliyev, for sustainable sports development, it is important to clearly define the functions of the relevant agencies and federations, as well as to establish the amount of funding allocated by the state. The transparency of the expenditure of these funds is also a key point, he added.
During the discussion, it was proposed to create a separate law on professional sports that would take into account the work experience of athletes, as well as develop mechanisms for their support after their careers end and protection in case of accidents. Clear rules for participation in national and international competitions also need to be developed.
In addition, Mamataliyev raised the issue of aligning anti-doping regulations with international standards and implementing measures to increase athlete accountability.
The speaker also noted that attracting private investment and creating conditions for investors is important for sports development, as well as developing strategic plans for 5 and 10 years.
During the meeting, coaches and athletes voiced their proposals, which will be taken into account in the development of new legislation.
