Kyrgyzstan purchases two Airbus A321ceo aircraft
In the building of the President's Administration, an agreement was signed between OJSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan" and "BBAM Aircraft Leasing & Management" for the purchase of two Airbus A321ceo aircraft for Kyrgyzstan.
The document was signed by Manasbek Samidinov, Chairman of the Board of OJSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan," and Steve Zissis, CEO of "BBAM Aircraft Leasing & Management." In his speech, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized that the agreements reached are the result of trust, open communication, and a commitment to long-term partnership. He added that the introduction of modern and efficient aircraft will help elevate the country's civil aviation to a new level of quality.
Kasymaliev expressed gratitude for the support of initiatives aimed at modernizing the air fleet of the Kyrgyz Republic, noting that the development of the aviation sector had been fragmented due to a lack of systemic support. Nevertheless, significant changes have occurred in this direction in recent years. The strategic decision by President Sadyr Japarov to establish the State Agency for Civil Aviation under the Cabinet of Ministers marked the beginning of a new era for Kyrgyzstan's aviation sector.
He added that from 2021 to 2025, the number of passengers served at airports increased by 52%, and the number of flights performed rose by 53%. While there were 5 airports operating in the country in 2021, now all airports in Kyrgyzstan are functioning.
According to audits conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2023-2024, the compliance of Kyrgyzstan's aviation system with international standards was confirmed. The latest audit showed the effectiveness of aviation security at 85.76%, significantly higher than previous indicators. These achievements create real chances for Kyrgyzstan to be removed from the European Union's Safety List. The final audit by the European Commission is expected to be completed in the coming days, which is an important step towards this goal, he noted.
President of "Airbus Europe" Johan Pelissier expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that a direct dialogue has been established with representatives of Kyrgyzstan's aviation sector for the successful implementation of upcoming major projects. He also confirmed the readiness to continue cooperation with the Kyrgyz side for further development of the aviation industry.
It is important to note that the Airbus A321ceo aircraft are planned to be delivered to OJSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan" at the end of 2026. The purchase of these aircraft is aimed at supporting the national airline "Asman Airlines," a subsidiary of OJSC "Airports of Kyrgyzstan," which will enhance passenger comfort, improve flight safety, expand the geography of flights, and strengthen positions in international aviation.
