The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, announced the start of construction of the “Kambar-Ata-1” hydroelectric power station, which will become the largest energy project in the country's history. At a republican meeting, he noted that the capacity of the new HPP will be 1,860 megawatts.
According to the president, after the construction is completed and the facility is put into operation, Kyrgyzstan will not only be able to meet all its internal electricity needs but will also become an exporter, significantly enhancing the energy stability of the region.

Japarov also emphasized that the implementation of this project will significantly strengthen the country's energy security and contribute to economic growth and sustainable development.

In this context, it is worth noting that the meeting took place at the “Yntymak Ordo” center, where the president summarized the results of 2025.

Members of the cabinet of ministers, heads of state institutions, authorized representatives of the president in the regions, mayors of Bishkek and Osh, as well as district akims participated in the event.
