The EU urged Kyrgyzstan to tighten control over the re-export of goods to Russia

According to O'Sullivan, the main reason for such purchases is the intention of re-exporting to Russia, which may violate international sanctions on goods with potential military applications.

According to information provided by Reuters, after the start of the conflict in Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan significantly increased supplies of dual-use goods to Russia. The country's economy is showing a growth rate of 9% per year. In February, the Financial Times reported that since the beginning of hostilities, imports of key goods from the EU to Kyrgyzstan have increased by 800%, while exports to Russia have risen by 1200%.

At a press conference in Bishkek, O'Sullivan clarified that the EU does not require Kyrgyzstan to adhere to anti-Russian sanctions.

“We understand that some states may make different decisions for various reasons,” he added, as reported by Tazabek.
