The deputy proposed to cultivate hemp on an industrial scale
He pointed out that this plant can serve as raw material for the production of bags and clothing.
This statement was responded to by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev, noting that Dastan Bekeshev is known for his unconventional approach to issues.
Kerimaliev clarified that it is more accurate to refer to this plant as industrial hemp to avoid confusion with marijuana.
“You are right, this is industrial hemp. Although some deputies are laughing here, the essence is different,” Bekeshev added.
He emphasized that the use of industrial hemp would eliminate the need to purchase sewing materials from Turkey and China.
“For example, in the USA and European countries, you can find t-shirts and bags made from industrial hemp,” he noted.
The deputy minister responded that at the moment the government is not considering this proposal and does not plan to implement it yet.
“We will take your proposal into account, as it is known that quality military uniforms can be produced from industrial hemp,” he added.
This issue was raised in the context of discussing the draft Law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic (to the laws 'On the Protection and Use of Plant Life' and 'On the Development of Agriculture in the Kyrgyz Republic')", which is being submitted for the first reading.
