The Polish Border Guard reported that in 2025, four such underground structures were discovered, including a recently uncovered tunnel. It extends 50 meters into Belarusian territory and 10 meters into Poland, with a height of 1.5 meters. The entrance on the Belarusian side is camouflaged among the trees.
Data indicates that the tunnel was used by 180 migrants, primarily from Afghanistan and Pakistan. Military analysts who studied video footage of the tunnel noted that it is impossible to determine exactly who was involved in its construction. However, they suggest that similar structures may have been built using the expertise of groups such as HAMAS in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, or even ISIS.
Poland's Deputy Minister of the Interior, Czesław Mroczek, noted that the creation of these tunnels indicates that authorities are combating illegal migration so effectively that criminals are forced to recruit international specialists for their operations.
