Significant changes are expected at the Ak-Beshim archaeological complex: Kyrgyzstan and Japan are discussing the construction of a new museum. This information was announced during a meeting between museum director Zhyldyz Bakashova and the Japanese delegation.
It is worth noting that Japanese scholars arrived with the aim of implementing the initiative to create the museum.
Experts participated in the discussion, including Sakakibara Yoji, Kamoda Masato, and the renowned archaeologist Iwai Shumpei, who has been conducting research in the Chui Valley for over ten years.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the need for experience exchange to preserve archaeological heritage and develop modern museum complexes.
In addition, Japanese specialists familiarized themselves with Kyrgyz experience in museum management, storage systems for collections, as well as key areas of work:
- the process of receiving historical and antique exhibits;
- the functioning of the state electronic catalog system;
- methods of storage, conservation, and digital accounting of museum collections;
- experience in scientific research and exhibition activities;
- compliance with international standards in collection management.
We remind you that Ak-Beshim is the remains of a trading city that existed from the 5th to the 11th centuries. It is one of the most famous archaeological sites in Central Asia and was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014 as part of the cultural heritage of the "Silk Road."
