In Geneva, at the United Nations Palace of Nations, a High-Level Segment of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council took place, actively participated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev.
According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service, among the participants were UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock, and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk.

In his speech, the minister summarized Kyrgyzstan's three-year activities in the council, expressing concern about the loss of trust in multilateral institutions and international law.

He called for the need to protect and strengthen the existing international system, which is especially important for small states.

Kulubaev also welcomed the recent ceasefire in Gaza, noting that sustainable peace is impossible without the full participation of the Palestinian people in peace negotiations.

Discussing the situation in Afghanistan, he pointed out that the isolation of this country only exacerbates humanitarian problems and negatively affects the observance of human rights.

The minister emphasized that Afghanistan should be viewed not only as a crisis zone but also as a state with significant human and economic potential.

Additionally, he noted that in 2025, thanks to the political will of the leaders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, a long-standing border conflict in the Fergana Valley was resolved. This decision, he said, became a conscious choice of the peoples of the three countries in favor of security, trust, and dialogue as fundamental principles of sustainable development and regional stability.

Touching on domestic policy, Jeenbek Kulubaev confirmed that human rights remain the foundation of state policy in Kyrgyzstan. He also stated the unchanging course towards the rule of law and the irrevocable rejection of the death penalty by the country.

The minister informed the international community about the parliamentary elections to be held in 2025, which will be accompanied by extensive international observation and the use of digital technologies. He emphasized the importance of the legislatively established 33 percent quota for women in parliament, highlighting Kyrgyzstan's commitment to the principles of gender equality.
