Electricity Consumption in Kazakhstan Increased by 3.8% in 2025

According to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, electricity consumption in Kazakhstan is expected to grow by 3.8% in 2025.
“The total volume of electricity consumption in 2025 will reach 124.6 billion kWh, which is 3.83% more than in 2024, when it was 120 billion kWh,” the ministry's budget execution report states.

Electricity production also increased by 4.4%, amounting to 123.1 billion kWh, compared to 117.9 billion kWh in 2024.

As of January 1, 2026, the total capacity of Kazakhstan's power plants is 20.1 GW.

The ministry also provided information on the commissioning of new capacities:

• 442 megawatts in 2022;

• 560 megawatts in 2023;

• 771 megawatts in 2024;

• 670 megawatts in 2025.
