In Kyrgyzstan, by the end of 2025, thermal energy production decreased to 2.8 million Gcal
In 2024, electricity generation was 14 billion 711.5 million kWh, corresponding to a growth rate of 104.6% compared to the previous year.
The majority of the produced electricity came from hydropower plants, which generated 13 billion 358.3 million kWh in 2025, an increase of 418.4 million kWh compared to 2024 (12 billion 939.8 million kWh). This resulted in a growth of 3.2%.
At the same time, there was a more significant increase in electricity generation at thermal power plants (TPPs): from 1 billion 771.7 million kWh in 2024 to 2 billion 28.6 million kWh in 2025, which constituted a growth rate of 114.5%.
However, unlike electricity generation, the production of thermal energy decreased. By the end of 2025, it amounted to 2 million 846.6 thousand Gcal, which is lower than the level of 2024 (3 million 30.2 thousand Gcal). The physical volume index was 93.9%.
