- In Kazakhstan, the launch of new generation capacities amounting to 2.64 GW is expected by 2026. This information was announced by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan on February 17.

During the current year, it is planned to commission four combined cycle gas plants with a total capacity of 1.2 GW, two wind power plants with a capacity of 150 MW, as well as four solar power plants that will add another 92 MW. In addition, an expansion of two thermal power plants by 1.1 GW is anticipated. All these facilities will be able to produce about 16 billion kWh of electricity annually.

According to Tazabek's calculations, taking into account the commissioning of new facilities, the total installed capacity of Kazakhstan's energy system will approach 30 GW.

As the ministry notes, in 2025, Kazakhstan had to import 3.7 billion kWh of electricity.
