Speaking on a podcast, Obama ironically added: “Unless there’s some huge conspiracy that even the President of the United States is not aware of.” When asked by the host what he would like to know first upon becoming president, he smiled and replied: “Where are the aliens?”
Rumors that the secret military base Area 51 in Nevada holds UFO wreckage and alien bodies have long stirred the minds of conspiracy theory supporters. Despite numerous rumors, there is no official confirmation of the existence of such “repositories,” and U.S. authorities explain the secrecy of the base by military testing and developments.
Among the popular theories about the activities at this base are the storage, study, and “reverse engineering” of alien technologies, including materials allegedly found in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947.
Some versions go even further, claiming that technologies for intergalactic weapons, time travel, and even weather control are being developed at the base.
Obama’s comments about “Zone 51” came a few months after a documentary filmmaker claimed that the U.S. government is hiding information about extraterrestrial intelligence. According to him, Donald Trump may soon officially confirm the existence of alien life.
“It’s only a matter of time before the sitting president steps up to the microphone and says, ‘We are not alone in the universe,’” said director Dan Farah, creator of the film The Age of Disclosure, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly at the end of November.
“That would be the most significant moment for a world leader.”
The Independent reached out to the White House for comments at that time.
Despite Dan Farah’s claims, Donald Trump has not yet made definitive statements about the existence of aliens. However, in several interviews before returning to the presidency, he acknowledged the possibility of extraterrestrial life, reasoning that the size of the universe suggests the existence of other intelligent beings.
