
In the course of his discussions with the national security team, Trump was convinced not to rush into decisive actions against Iran, while the Pentagon is enhancing its capabilities for potential strikes and strengthening defenses in 11 countries in the region that could become victims of a possible retaliatory attack from Iran.
The President also noted that a change of political regime in Iran could be the "best outcome," adding that "it would possibly be the most fortunate event." He pointed out that for the past 47 years, the Iranian leadership has only talked, while countless lives have been lost and people have suffered terrible hardships.
According to Reuters, the U.S. armed forces are preparing for a prolonged military operation against Iran. Strikes may be directed not only at nuclear facilities but also at the country's government institutions.
