President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov recently shared his thoughts on the reform of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) in an interview with the Kabar agency.
When asked about the possibility of the special service returning to traditional functions focused on intelligence and counterintelligence, the president replied that the SCNS has successfully handled its assigned tasks.
“Moreover, it can be asserted that in some areas it has even exceeded expectations. Nevertheless, the state is a dynamic structure that must evolve and change. Yesterday, national security faced one set of challenges, while today it faces an entirely different one,” noted Japarov.
He also added that in light of new conditions, the SCNS will undergo significant changes to effectively respond to modern threats and global transformations.
“The world is transforming, and our state institutions must adapt and renew themselves in accordance with these changes,” emphasized the president.
