The company clarified that the issue affects vehicles with starter relays that were produced from July 2020 to July 2022. This concerns BMW 2 Series Coupe models, as well as various versions of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Series, 6th Series Gran Turismo, and the X4, X5, X6, and Z4 crossovers.
BMW also added that drivers are advised not to leave their vehicles with the engine running unattended. During the operation of such vehicles, smoke or a characteristic smell may be noticed, both while driving and when exiting the vehicle.
