Water is returning to the Aral Sea
According to the latest data, the water level in the Small Aral has risen to 23 billion cubic meters, as reported by Almaty.tv.

As of today, 50 cubic meters of water per second is flowing through the Akhlak hydro facility. It is expected that by the end of the year, work will be carried out to strengthen the dam, and a new phase of the project to restore the Northern Aral will begin. The restoration of the sea gives people confidence in the future.

“The salinity of the water has significantly increased. Since the 24th, it has been relatively low. Now fish have a chance to survive. I hope that the inflow of water will continue at the same level,” shared the opinion of a resident of the village of Karateren, Azimbai Zholmyrzaev.

“In our village of Bogen, there are about 200 families, and almost every one has a fisherman. The standard of living of local residents directly depends on the sea, and everyone is hoping for when the Aral will be filled again,” said Torekhan Dilzhanov, a resident of the village of Bogen.

Every year, up to 8,000 tons of fish are caught in the Small Aral. Specialists note that such results have become possible thanks to years of efforts to preserve the water body. In 2022, work began on the reconstruction of the Kokaral Dam, which will ensure a stable inflow of water into the sea. This, in turn, will create conditions for the development of various economic and social projects.

“The agreement signed by the ministers of water resources of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan during the meeting of the presidents of Central Asia played an important role. It was decided to share the volume of incoming water equally among the countries. We are already using our limit,” reported Zhorabek Nurymbetov, head of the production section of "Kyzylorda Sushar".
