Scientists have discovered how a person dies: what happens to the brain

In studies dedicated to the neural activity of the brain in the final moments of life, scientists found that before death, some individuals experience a sharp spike in neuronal activity. This phenomenon coincides with descriptions given by people who have experienced clinical death, reports the source HiTech.

The research, conducted using electroencephalograms on patients under medical supervision, showed that in the last seconds of life, gamma waves were activated in some of them. These waves are associated with conscious thought and memory.
The most noticeable changes were recorded in the areas of the brain responsible for consciousness and memories. This aligns with accounts from people who have undergone clinical death, who often mention "replaying" their life events or encountering deceased loved ones.
The authors of the study note that such spikes are not observed in everyone, and the reasons for their occurrence remain unclear. Nevertheless, the fact that they appear indicates that the brain does not shut down instantly, but may temporarily enter a state of heightened activity.
According to scientists' opinions, if a person does experience any sensations during the dying process, it occurs precisely at the moment of the activity spike, which corresponds to what people describe after clinical death.
