Imported meat and meat products from China are not halal, - Deputy Minister of Economy Akhmatov
He noted that the global halal goods market reaches $3 trillion and inquired whether Kyrgyzstan exports any products.
“Does Kyrgyzstan have export products in the halal sector?” - the deputy asked.
In response, Deputy Minister of Economy Sultan Akhmatov clarified that the republic exports sausage products and meat products, including supplies to Russia and Kazakhstan.
Kylchayev also touched upon the topic of meat and meat products coming from China.
“Does this product meet halal standards?” — he asked.
Akhmatov replied that it does not.
“No, such products are not halal,” — stated the deputy minister.
The deputy emphasized the need for clear labeling of the origin of meat on store shelves — whether local or imported.
To this, Akhmatov explained that there are clear rules in Kyrgyzstan regulating the entire process — from slaughter to sale.
“The Bishkek Center for Metrology and Testing, in cooperation with the DUMK, conducts checks on products both from the perspective of food safety and in accordance with Sharia standards,” — he added.
Moreover, the deputy asked about the volumes of meat product imports from China. However, the deputy minister stated that he does not have such data at the moment.
