Kyrgyzstan and Russia intend to increase trade turnover to $5 billion this year

At a briefing in Bishkek, Russian Ambassador Sergey Vakunov stated that Kyrgyzstan and Russia have all the necessary resources to achieve a trade turnover of $5 billion. The diplomat emphasized that in 2025, the volume of trade operations between the two countries reached $3.1 billion. This makes the target set during the meeting of Presidents Putin and Japarov in November last year quite achievable.

“We are confident in our ability to fulfill the presidents' instructions to increase trade turnover to $5 billion. It is important to focus on Russian investments, new joint projects, increasing mutual trade, and transitioning to cooperation between enterprises. The sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan's economy plays a key role in this process. Currently, the growth rates are impressive,” added Sergey Vakunov.

Ulugbek Yereshayev, an expert in public administration, noted that Kyrgyzstan has significantly increased its export capabilities due to the growth of its industrial potential. “Agriculture is showing positive dynamics, and last year a record harvest of vegetables and fruits was recorded. These products, both in raw and processed forms, are actively supplied to Russia and are in high demand. I hope that issues related to border crossings for light industry producers will be resolved, which will also provide an additional incentive for growth,” commented the expert.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan needs supplies of energy equipment, various components, and technologies for the construction of power plants. There is mutual interest in different sectors of the economy, making the goal of $5 billion quite realistic. In the future, bilateral trade turnover can grow significantly, and we have all the necessary conditions for this,” concluded Ulugbek Yereshayev.
