- A draft law has been developed in Kyrgyzstan aimed at implementing the concept of digital evidence and reforming criminal and procedural legislation in light of current digital conditions. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice.

According to the information, the content of the document includes amendments to the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the Code of Offenses. The draft law introduces a definition of digital evidence, as well as stipulates the procedures for their collection, storage, recording, and use in criminal and administrative processes.

Particular attention is paid to the protection of citizens' rights. In particular, the draft law introduces additional procedural guarantees concerning the handling of digital data, which affect the confidentiality of correspondence, personal data, and private life, as well as mechanisms for judicial oversight.

Furthermore, the draft law updates outdated terminology, aligning it with the Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. It also provides legal mechanisms for dealing with virtual assets, which are increasingly becoming targets of criminal encroachments.

The Ministry of Justice noted that the adoption of this draft law will create a modern legal framework for combating cybercrime, establish clear rules for handling digital data, and ensure consistency in law enforcement practices.
