According to Thomas Hedin, the editor-in-chief of the Danish fact-checking service TjekDet, the amount of misinformation related to Greenland significantly increased last year.
It is worth noting that Greenland is not part of the European Union, which means that the EU laws on social media aimed at combating misinformation do not apply on the island. This information was provided by the Danish Ministry of Digital Technology, reports Politico.
Despite polls showing support among Greenlanders for integration with Europe, Bundestag member from the Green Party, Sergey Lagodinsky, called on the EU to prepare for a "new type of hybrid confrontation" related to Greenland.
