- The Vice President of Field Services and Maintenance Management at Wabtec Corporation, Gaini Duysenova, reported that over the past five years, 70% of all freight transportation in Central Asia has been carried out using railways. This highlights the need for investments in updating rolling stock, as well as improving both passenger and freight cars. This information was announced on February 5 at the B5+1 forum taking place in Bishkek.

She noted that modernization of the railway infrastructure is required to stimulate economic growth and trade development in the region, as well as the expansion of transport routes and support for local businesses.

Duysenova also pointed out that the length of the railway network in Central Asia is about 45,000 km, which is significantly less compared to the USA, where this figure exceeds 150,000 km, and India with its more than 130,000 km.

To attract investments, she stated that it is necessary to create financial confidence for clients, and in this regard, the company is actively engaging with local financial institutions.
