
Today, February 4, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, held a telephone conversation with Nurlan Ermekbaev, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, during the conversation, important issues regarding the activities of the SCO in light of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in the organization in 2026 were discussed. Special attention was paid to preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO, scheduled for 2026.
Jeenbek Kulubaev noted the strategic significance of the upcoming summit, which will be dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the SCO's establishment. In this context, the importance of the chairmanship slogan was raised: "25 years of the SCO: together for a sustainable world, development, and prosperity."
The Minister also emphasized the need to strengthen efforts to improve the regulatory framework to enhance the organization’s effectiveness and to thoroughly develop the content of the summit.
Furthermore, the parties noted that the anniversary date provides an opportunity for a deep assessment of the achieved results and the formulation of new directions for the long-term development of the SCO. During the conversation, aspects of the implementation of joint initiatives in the field of regional security, economic partnership, and strengthening the institutional foundations of the organization were discussed.
