The launch of drone production in one of the colonies near Astana has become possible thanks to the participation of inmates who will directly work on the creation of drones. This was reported by Orda.kz, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The project is being implemented with the support of the RGP "Enbek," which deals with the employment of inmates. In the colony in the village of Arshaly, a hangar has been renovated and the necessary machines for production have been installed. The plans include not just assembly but the creation of a full-fledged production cycle.

“We intend to establish a complete cycle of drone production, including the manufacturing of bodies on the premises. The development of boards and software will also be carried out here,” shared information the head of RGP "Enbek," Ermek Shurmanov.

The process involves the inmates themselves, with whom labor contracts have been formalized. They will receive a salary, follow a set work schedule, and have the right to vacation. The earned funds will go towards repaying debts and alimony, as well as for personal needs. There is no cash payment in the colonies: all money is credited to an account from which payments can be made in local stores.

In the institutions of the penal system, there are approximately 23,000 able-bodied inmates, of which more than 18,000 already have jobs. In addition to drones, clothing, footwear, furniture, dishes, building materials, as well as street bins and benches are produced in Kazakhstani colonies. The colonies also have greenhouses for growing vegetables.
