According to the Ministry of Energy, even if the moratorium is lifted, there will be no sharp price increases for fuel, as reported by Ulysmedia.kz.
In Kazakhstan, a moratorium on raising prices for AI-92 gasoline is in effect until the end of March, which was implemented to curb inflation. The Ministry of Energy assures that even after the moratorium is lifted, no sharp price changes are expected.
— We have made the decision to temporarily halt price increases and intervene in market processes. If after March 31 the government decides again not to regulate the gas station market, prices will be determined by internal supply and demand. We will not allow a sharp rise in prices, — noted Yerlan Akkenzhenov, the Minister of Energy.
Economist Arman Beysembayev suggests that the moratorium on raising gasoline prices may be lifted as early as March. He added that this could lead to an increase in fuel prices in the near future.
