Blindsight aims to restore vision for those who have lost both eyes and the optic nerve, provided that the visual cortex of the brain remains intact.
In a recent post on X, Musk claimed: “Neuralink's Blindsight device will enable those who have never seen or have lost their sight to see. If the visual cortex of the brain is preserved, this device could restore vision even for those who are blind from birth.”
Thus, Neuralink is taking steps to assist people with vision loss, providing them with the ability to see even at an initial, low resolution, with the prospect of further improving visual perception.
