Kyrgyzstan's International Reserves Exceed 10 Billion Dollars for the First Time, - Head of the National Bank
“Today we have reached a historic milestone: international reserves (gold and foreign currency reserves) have exceeded 10 billion dollars for the first time. This is a double-digit figure, which is a huge achievement. We have entered the club of countries with large reserves,” he noted.
Turgunbaev also emphasized that the current volume of reserves is almost twice the country's external debt.
He added that such reserves provide reliable protection for the currency market against external economic shocks and can cover the country's imports for about 9 months.
According to the National Statistical Committee, the import of goods for the first 9 months of 2025 amounted to 9 billion 135.6 million dollars.
President Sadyr Japarov, speaking on December 17, 2025, at a plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh, noted the significant growth of gold and foreign currency reserves and the country's achievements in foreign policy.
He pointed out that this year, gold and foreign currency reserves reached 8.5 billion dollars.
“For comparison: in 2020, reserves were just over 2 billion dollars. Today, they amount to 8.5 billion dollars. In a short period, we have managed to increase them by more than 6 billion dollars,” the president added.
