Prelyasko also mentioned that cases of Nipah virus transmission between humans are extremely rare. This has only occurred in isolated instances, primarily within families where there was close contact with the bodily fluids of the infected individual.

Mode of Infection Transmission

As noted, infection with the Nipah virus mainly occurs through contact with bats or consumption of contaminated food.
According to the virologist, cases of human-to-human transmission of the virus are rare and have only been recorded in limited situations where there was close contact with the bodily fluids of the sick person.

Lack of Treatment and Vaccine

Prelyasko also noted that currently there is neither an approved vaccine nor a specific treatment for combating the Nipah virus. Only supportive methods, similar to those used for encephalitis, are applied for therapeutic purposes. The disease is characterized by a high level of lethality.
