The Mayor of Bishkek visited water supply facilities and schools in the capital

The Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, along with his deputies, conducted an inspection of several facilities related to water supply and educational institutions in the capital.

The first stop of the visit was the "Orto-Alysh" water intake, where the cleaning of the recharge lakes is currently underway. To date, 4 out of 11 lakes have been cleaned using 8 excavators and 5 dump trucks. This water intake provides 8,600 cubic meters of water, meeting the needs of about 40% of the capital's population.

During the inspection, the mayor instructed to coordinate actions with the Municipal Enterprise "Bishkek Heat and Power Plant" to start repair work earlier than planned, which is necessary to ensure reliable water supply during the summer period.

The Municipal Enterprise "Bishkekvodokanal" was also instructed to notify agricultural facilities about the transition to drip irrigation. In case of non-compliance with this directive, appropriate measures should be taken.

The delegation then proceeded to the Children's Art School No. 4, where the possibility of constructing an additional floor or a new building next to the old one was discussed. Aibek Junushaliev instructed to contact the Institute of Seismology to assess the seismic resistance of the existing building, and emphasized that during the reconstruction, attention should be paid to creating an accessible environment for people with disabilities. It was also noted that the school will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026, and all work must be completed by that date.

The mayor also visited School No. 37, where he strongly recommended starting major repairs on the adjacent building and considering the option of merging the two school buildings to increase its capacity. Additionally, a command was given to demolish nearby garages and explore the possibility of constructing a multi-level parking facility.

The next site was the "HBO" water intake, which, after reconstruction, now operates with 5 wells: 3 of them have been repaired, and 2 new ones have been drilled with a capacity of 160 cubic meters per hour each. Four second-lift pumping units have been installed. This water intake provides drinking water to residents of the Kok-Jar area and adjacent neighborhoods bounded by the streets Ankara, Dostoevsky, L. Tolstoy, and 7 April. The work here was supposed to be completed in February 2026, but thanks to accelerated progress, it will be finished by December 2025.

The mayor concluded his tour at School No. 56. After several visits and criticism from Aibek Junushaliev, as well as management decisions, including the dismissal of the deputy akim of the October district, the pace of work at the site significantly increased.

As a result, the major repair of the gym was completed in just two months.

At the end of the visit, the mayor instructed to enhance the greening of the school grounds and develop a project for its improvement. The school principal reported that the number of students has increased after the completion of the repairs.
