Expert: Reforms in the driver training system are aimed at reducing traffic accidents and fatalities

Edil Marlis uulu, an expert in road safety, emphasized in an interview with IA "Kabar" that issues related to driver training and the issuance of licenses have persisted for many years. However, according to him, the authorities are not remaining inactive and are striving to reduce the number of traffic accidents and lower the mortality rate on the roads.
Among the most significant innovations, the expert highlights the introduction of lessons on traffic rules and driving basics in senior classes of general education institutions starting from September 2026.
“Recently, the term 'buying a license' has become widespread in society. This corrupt practice allowed people to obtain driver's licenses of all categories, including motorcycles, cars, buses, and trucks with trailers, which, of course, negatively affects road safety,” he added.
In an interview with IA "Kabar," President Sadyr Japarov emphasized the need to improve driving culture. The expert agrees that theory alone is not enough, as reckless behavior from some drivers remains a serious problem. Many lack the understanding that a car is a source of increased danger.
Speaking about the reform, Edil Marlis uulu noted that it is important to eliminate the human factor from the examination process. Subjective decisions and the possibility of corrupt agreements must be eradicated to achieve real changes.
The expert also believes that introducing traffic rules classes in senior grades is a very correct step, as it will give graduates a chance to pass the exam and obtain a driver's license.
The president clearly stated that the new driver training courses will be available for both school graduates and more mature citizens. Questions regarding the duration of training remain open, and the expert hopes that the state will provide clear explanations on all aspects of the reforms to avoid misunderstandings and distortions of information in society. “When speculation begins, information reaches people in a distorted form,” Edil Marlis uulu concluded.
