The Highest Economic Growth Rates in Central Asia: A Kazakh Expert Listed Changes in Kyrgyzstan
The Director of the Center for Comparative Political Studies of Kazakhstan, Aidar Amrebaev, expressed his views in a recent interview with the "Kabar" agency regarding the changes that have occurred in Kyrgyzstan since the rise to power of President Sadyr Japarov.
According to the expert, under Japarov's leadership, Kyrgyzstan's economy is demonstrating positive dynamics, with a real GDP growth rate of 11.1%, which is one of the best indicators in Central Asia.
"The nationalization of the Kumtor gold mine has been an important step. Previously, the revenues from it were concentrated in the hands of private investors, but now the funds are directed to the state budget. This, in turn, leads to an increase in salaries, especially for social workers, medical professionals, and educators. Significant changes are also observed in the tourism sector. Entrepreneurs note a decrease in corruption risks, which opens doors for foreign investments. The fight against corruption has been one of President Japarov's main tasks, and he has managed to achieve significant success," he added.
The expert also noted that Sadyr Japarov has succeeded in establishing Kyrgyzstan's authority among Central Asian leaders by resolving a number of complex border issues with neighboring states.
"Border issues have concerned not only Kyrgyzstan but all of Central Asia. After their resolution, calm has been established in the region, and Kyrgyzstan's image has significantly improved, which has increased trust in Central Asia as a whole. This has allowed for the attraction of investments and sparked interest from major powers. Kyrgyzstan plays an important role in these processes. While there was previously tension in the region, today we observe a strengthening of friendly relations. Sadyr Japarov has expressed the people's desire for peace and prosperity, presenting Kyrgyzstan as a civilized and open state in Central Asia. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as close countries, continue to develop bilateral and regional ties," he noted.
In addition, Aidar Amrebaev highlighted that with the support of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan is expanding its transport and logistics capabilities, connecting different regions. The construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway line creates a multiplicative effect in the logistics sector, attracting the attention of international markets.
"In our countries, there is a growth in business activity. Sadyr Japarov is actively opening the market for foreign investments, including those from Kazakhstan. He is taking decisive measures on all bilateral and regional issues. His presidency can be characterized as a time of positive changes that reflect the will of the people and national interests," concluded the expert.
