The speaker met with a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Gao Xian.
The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Nurlanbek Turghunbek uulu, held a meeting with a delegation headed by Gao Xiang, a member of the Central Committee of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China and President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
According to the press service of the parliament, the negotiations discussed aspects of political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian interaction between the two countries, as well as opportunities for further development of inter-parliamentary relations.
Turghunbek uulu emphasized that China is a long-standing and important neighbor of Kyrgyzstan, as well as its key strategic partner.
“The historically established ties between our peoples have been actively developing in recent years, supported by high-level meetings. Last year, our leaders met three times, conducting important negotiations to strengthen Kyrgyz-Chinese relations. As a result, the level of trade and economic relations reached record heights, and cultural and humanitarian interaction became more active,” he noted.
The Speaker emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation, recalling his successful official visit to China in 2024.
“Last year, a delegation of the National People's Congress of China, led by Zhao Leji, also visited Kyrgyzstan, which led to important meetings and elevated inter-parliamentary ties to a new level. These visits facilitated the implementation of the agreements reached and were a significant step in the development of strategic partnership,” he added.
He also noted that Kyrgyzstan remains interested in further developing cooperation with China.
Gao Xiang, in turn, conveyed greetings from the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, Zhao Leji, and emphasized that the main goal of his visit is to promote the development of Kyrgyz-Chinese relations.
He also briefly highlighted China's recent achievements, noting that the country always strives to strengthen friendly relations with Kyrgyzstan.
“We actively exchange information about the centuries-old history of the Kyrgyz people and maintain close ties with the 'Muras' fund. Our goal is to jointly study our common history and strengthen long-standing ties,” concluded Gao Xiang, inviting the Speaker to learn about the work of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
