According to the agency's data, within the framework of the project "Rehabilitation of the Toktogul HPP. Phase No. 3," the upgrade of the third hydro unit has been completed, which allowed for an increase in its capacity by 60 MW. All four hydro units at the Toktogul HPP have been modernized, resulting in an increase in the installed capacity of the station from 1200 MW to 1440 MW, adding 240 MW.
In 2025, the modernization of the second hydro unit at the Uch-Kurgan HPP was also completed, which enabled an increase in its capacity by 9 MW. In 2024, the modernization of the first hydro unit was carried out at the station. As a result, the capacity of the Uch-Kurgan HPP increased by 18 MW, reaching 198 MW. The modernization of the remaining two units is planned for 2026.
Thus, as a result of the reconstruction of the hydro units of major HPPs, in 2025, the installed capacity of the energy system was additionally increased by 69 MW.
