160 kilograms of walnuts from Kyrgyzstan were not allowed into Russia

On January 22, 2026, an attempt to illegally import walnuts from Kyrgyzstan was thwarted at the phytosanitary control post "Isilkulsky" in the Omsk region, as reported by Russian media.

A mobile group from the Omsk customs, together with specialists from the Rosselkhoznadzor, stopped a minibus in which 160 kg of quarantined products with a high phytosanitary risk were found.

During the inspection, it was revealed that the cargo was being transported across the border without the necessary phytosanitary certificate, which is required to confirm its safety and compliance with Russia's quarantine requirements. The absence of such a document poses serious risks of introducing and spreading dangerous quarantine objects in the region. The carrier was held administratively liable under Article 10.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, and the cargo along with the minibus was returned to the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the supervision of the relevant authorities, according to the official statement.
