Kyrgyzstan and the OSCE Discussed Cooperation Priorities and High-Level Visits for 2026
The meeting held on January 23 in Bishkek brought together the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Meder Abakirov, and Volker Frobarth, the head of the OSCE Program Office. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
During the conversation, various aspects of Kyrgyzstan's interaction with the OSCE were discussed, including key areas of cooperation for 2026.
Among the topics discussed were the upcoming visits of high-profile guests, including the anticipated arrival of the OSCE Secretary General, Feridun Sinirlioğlu, as well as visits from the Director of the OSCE ODIHR and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. The Kyrgyz side confirmed its readiness to provide full organizational support and ensure constructive meetings with the country's leadership.
The parties also exchanged views on the prospects for implementing OSCE projects in the region, including initiatives aimed at improving border cooperation and building trust in Central Asia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the readiness to further develop partnership relations between Kyrgyzstan and the OSCE, based on the principles of mutual respect, open dialogue, and consideration of the interests of the host party, was confirmed.
