The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects support for Kyrgyzstan's candidacy in the UN Security Council

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, stated at a New Year reception for diplomats about significant changes in the world order, which are accompanied by increasing instability and new challenges in the field of international security.
According to him, the existing system of international relations and collective security is experiencing serious difficulties, considering regional conflicts, climate risks, and the rapid development of technologies. He emphasized the importance of international organizations, especially the United Nations, stressing that despite criticism, they serve as the main means of preventing global disasters.

Kulubaev also noted the need for further transformation of the UN to enhance its effectiveness in the changing world order. He emphasized that reforms should strengthen the fundamental principles of the organization, such as international law and equality among member states, rather than undermine existing mechanisms.

In his speech, the minister reminded that Kyrgyzstan has put forward its candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027-2028, with elections scheduled for June 3 at the UN headquarters in New York. Kulubaev expressed confidence that Kyrgyzstan would make every effort to gain broad international support and hopes for backing from friendly states.

The minister added that Kyrgyzstan's election to the UN Security Council would be an important signal for countries that previously did not have the opportunity to be represented in this body and would give new impetus to their interaction with the UN system.

In conclusion, Jeenbek Kulubaev thanked diplomats and representatives of international organizations for their contribution to the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, confirming the readiness of the Kyrgyz Republic for open and constructive dialogue to achieve peace, security, and sustainable development.
