Speaking at the New Year's reception for representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, emphasized that 2026 promises to be rich in terms of international interactions and the development of foreign policy relations.
The Minister noted that throughout the year, Kyrgyzstan expects to host numerous international events. This includes both visits from foreign delegations and the arrival of high-ranking guests to the country. Important high-level meetings are planned with leaders from both traditional partners and new countries. In addition, cooperation with international and regional organizations will be strengthened, which, according to Kulubaev, will contribute to enhancing mutually beneficial partnerships and sustainable development.
Significant attention this year will be given to Kyrgyzstan's presidency in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which began in September of last year. As part of this presidency, a jubilee SCO summit is planned, where heads of states and governments, as well as leaders of key international and regional structures, will gather.
Kulubaev also reported on preparations for major international sports and cultural events. Among them are the Sixth World Nomad Games, which are expected to see participation from teams from over a hundred countries, as well as the jubilee Issyk-Kul International Forum, founded by the famous writer and humanist Chyngyz Aitmatov. Throughout the year, other international events in the fields of sports and culture will also take place in Kyrgyzstan with the participation of foreign delegations and international organizations.
Among the foreign policy priorities, the Minister highlighted the need to strengthen multilateral cooperation within the framework of the UN, CIS, EAEU, CSTO, SCO, Organization of Turkic States, OSCE, OIC, the "Central Asia +" platform, as well as other international formats, including the COP-31 Summit.
Jeenbek Kulubaev also emphasized the preparation for the Second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25," which is scheduled for 2027.
In conclusion, the Minister added that traditional joint activities with international partners will remain a priority, including inter-agency consultations, meetings of intergovernmental commissions, and specialized forums in the areas of investment, business, digital technologies, youth cooperation, sports, and tourism.
