According to Tengrinews.kz, Kazakhstan has become a new member of the Council of Peace without making any financial contributions.
To join the Council of Peace, only a sovereign decision of the state is required, and the term of membership in the Council is three years after joining.
In Akorda, it was noted that the mentioned contribution of 1 billion dollars in the charter is voluntary and does not affect the ability to participate. If the contribution is made within the first year, it will allow for the extension of membership in the Council of Peace after the three-year term expires.
"Kazakhstan has become part of the Council of Peace without a financial contribution, which fully complies with the provisions of the Charter," said representatives of Akorda.
The Council of Peace is an intergovernmental organization established at the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump. On January 22, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the charter of the Council of Peace in Davos, where leaders from 18 countries were also present.
