At the plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh, held on January 22, 2026, deputy Marlen Mamataliyev proposed the introduction of solar panels for private homes as a way to combat the smog problem in Bishkek. He noted that $50 million had been allocated to fight this pollution as part of a loan, but no real changes in the situation have been observed so far.

“If the Ministry of Energy used these funds to purchase solar panels, at least 10,000 families could provide themselves with electricity independently,” the deputy emphasized.

In response, Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov stated that the ministry is already working on this issue.
It is worth noting that during the discussion, there was a draft law "On Amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic 'On Renewable Energy Sources'," which was being considered in its first reading.
