Sauranbaev noted that local akimats usually lean towards the construction of asphalt roads, despite their high cost. “Building an asphalt road costs 6 to 10 times more than a gravel one. They start the work, but often there are not enough funds even for gravel. Therefore, we are preparing a new order that will recommend building gravel roads in small villages, ensuring their quality and compliance with standards,” the minister stated.

The minister also emphasized that the maintenance of asphalt roads in rural areas is a serious problem. Drivers often choose the shoulder to avoid damaging their vehicles on the broken sections of the road.

“Local executive bodies do not have a sufficient budget to maintain asphalt roads in good condition,” Sauranbaev added.

According to the new program, it is planned to completely resolve the issue of access to populated areas through the construction of gravel roads. The document has already been prepared and is awaiting approval, after which the authorities intend to begin its implementation.
