7000 soms for living. The deputy called for increased support for children with disabilities and their families

Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliyev, at a recent parliamentary meeting, called for a more attentive approach to issues concerning people with disabilities.
He emphasized that one of the main tasks is to improve the existing system of benefits.

“Disability assistants receive only 7,000 soms. These 7-8 thousand soms are insufficient. Family situations vary: some have many relatives, others do not. If there is one person with a disability in the family and another is a caregiver, and both do not work, how can they survive on this amount?” - noted the deputy.
In addition, Mamataliyev pointed out the lack of rehabilitation centers for children with special needs. For example, about 50 children diagnosed with cerebral palsy live in the residential area "Muras-Ordo," but there is no center for their rehabilitation.

“I ask you to consider the possibility of building such institutions. Parents caring for sick children cannot work. This problem affects all districts of the city,” - he added.
It is worth noting that earlier in Bishkek, mothers of children with disabilities appealed to President Sadyr Japarov and Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev, publishing their appeal on social media. They reported that they receive only 8,000 soms a month, which is insufficient for purchasing expensive medications that are often unavailable at pharmacies.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that many of these children are raised by single mothers who cannot work and depend on benefits. In Kyrgyzstan, there are very few state rehabilitation centers for children with special needs, and the cost of private services reaches 60-80 thousand soms per month, making full rehabilitation inaccessible for most.

Mothers also complain about difficulties in obtaining housing and request assistance in resolving these issues. A video of their appeal quickly spread on social media, attracting public attention.
