Afghanistan Significantly Increases Trade Volume with Central Asian Countries
According to forecasts, by the end of 2025, the volume of trade operations with neighboring countries will reach $2.6 billion, and exports of Afghan goods will increase by 77% to $216 million.
Agricultural products continue to play a leading role in exports. Afghanistan actively supplies markets in Central Asia with goods such as dried fruits, pomegranates, grapes, nuts, saffron, cotton, and vegetables.
Economic experts emphasize that this growth in trade is driven by several factors. Countries in the region are eager to strengthen economic ties with Afghanistan, viewing it as an important transit corridor to the markets of South Asia. Additionally, Kabul is actively working on integration into regional transport projects, including the proposed Termez – Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway corridor, which could eventually connect Central Asia with Pakistani ports.
According to the Afghanistan Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock, the Central Asian market has become a key direction for the sale of agricultural products and joint investment initiatives.
