Currently, a five-year development plan is being implemented, which includes ambitious goals for increasing GDP. The program was updated and approved by the president in June 2025, clearly outlining the priority areas of economic policy until 2030.
According to preliminary data, last year the GDP of Kyrgyzstan was about $22 billion, and the GDP per capita exceeded $3,000. By 2030, it is expected to reach values between $4,000 and $4,500 per person.
The priority areas for development include:
- the industrial sector;
- the energy sector;
- transport and logistics;
- sustainable tourism;
- organic agriculture, as well as support for small and medium-sized businesses.
Bakyt Sydykov also noted that measures are already being taken, such as the introduction of a moratorium on business inspections.
“Our key task is to support small and medium-sized enterprises, the share of which in the economy continues to increase,” he added, indicating that in 2024, the share of small businesses was 42–43 percent, and by the end of 2025, it is expected to reach 51 percent.
The moratorium on business inspections implies a suspension of inspections by most government agencies until the end of 2026; however, tax and customs services will continue their activities.
These measures are aimed at reducing administrative pressure on businesses and improving interaction between small and medium-sized enterprises and the government.
