In order to prevent a sharp rise in food prices and shortages, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic will actively engage in concluding new import contracts. This was announced at a briefing by Choro Seyitov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce.
According to Seyitov, in the event of a market imbalance, the ministry is ready to promptly increase the supply of vegetables, fruits, and meat from abroad.
The import of meat products is planned to be organized from the following countries: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and China.
The Deputy Minister noted that when regulating imports, it is important to consider the interests of local farmers, who should have the opportunity to sell their products in both domestic and foreign markets. The main task remains to prevent unjustified price increases for consumers.
In addition, to stabilize meat prices in the domestic market, the government has already imposed temporary restrictions on the export of livestock and meat products. These measures are aimed at saturating the market and keeping prices within reach for the population.
